Vectors of Collective Imagination

Vectors of Collective Imagination is an international project that has been implement from September 2018 to August 2020 in cooperation with the organizations Berliner Gazette (Germany), Glänta (Sweden), Kontrapunkt (Macedonia), (Serbia), and Kulturtreger (Croatia), with co-financing from the Creative Europe program of the European Union. The project is a continuation of a partnership that began in 2012 through the Aesthetic Education Expanded project and which aimed to transfer the concept of aesthetic education – which combines art, imagination and democracy – in the age of digital networks. Vectors of Collective Imagination returns anew to this emancipatory notion, questioning the challenge that Europe’s new political geography, marked by the refugee crisis, Islamophobia, economic inequalities, and growing illiberalism, poses to the collective imagination. As part of the project, we will organize 7 major events (festivals, conferences, exhibitions) at the locations from which the partners operate in order to deal with various aspects of this issue. The events will connect some important points (Egypt, Maghreb, Northern Europe, Balkans, Eastern Europe) and new geographies and artistic responses that could contribute to the creation of a new collective imagination that could oppose retrograde political tendencies in Europe and elsewhere.

The project is co-financed by the European Union through the Creative Europe program.
