ZgPHP meetup #33

Last meetup with talks before summer break (we are doing only drinkups until September).

[BREAKING NEWS] This is 3rd meetup in a row with English only sessions!

Nikola Plejic – HHVM and Hack: Might These Be The Droids We Are Looking For?

In the most outrageous session since that presentation on Node.js, we’ll take a flagrant stab at the core ideals of this community by talking about an alternative implementation of PHP – HHVM, and a new not-entirely-unlike-PHP language for that runtime – Hack. We’ll discuss key features, compatibility, reasons for naming a language “Hack”, and the amount of time we’ll spend burning in hell for challenging weak dynamic typing and Zend.

Josip Stuhli – Building distributed PHP applications

Today speed is (almost) everything. With every second your page loads you lose more users. Using job queues it is possible to build distributed, parallel and “asynchronous” PHP applications. Learn how using Gearman or resque can help you build fast, scalable and highly available applications.

Schedule

17:30 – Warm up and small talk
18:00 – Group announcements
18:10 – Nikola Plejic – HHVM and Hack: Might These Be The Droids We Are Looking For?
18:45 – Josip Stuhli – Building distributed PHP applications
