U nedjelju 06. 09. i ponedjeljak 07.09., od 15-20h, u sklopu programa Explicit music u MaMi će se održati radionica Textile Electro s belgijsko-francuskom umjetnicom Claire Williams.
Tijekom ove radionice istražujemo tehnike slušanja nevidljivih svjetova pomoću antena i izrade kućno napravljenih strujnih krugova. Ove elektroničke antene omogućuju nam sonifikaciju elektromagnetskih valova koji zrače iz aura okolnih elektroničkih uređaja. Upoznat ćemo se s tekstilnim i elektroničkim tehnikama izrade kako bismo svakodnevne predmete pretvorili u naprave za rašljarenje (dowsing). Radionicu završavamo zvučnom šetnjom kako bismo osjetili teksture ovih nevidljivih svjetova.
Radionica je namijenjena svima zainteresiranima za zvučnu umjetnost i DIY (uradi sam) etiku, neovisno o prethodnom iskustvu ili vlastitoj praksi. Molimo sudionike da ponesu:
- Zbirku rabljenih (2nd hand) predmeta: šešire, cipele, kišobrane, okrugle predmete, kotače, prenosive dodatke, štapove, štapiće i sl. te osobne elemente kojima žele nadograditi svoju antenu.
- Slušalice s MINI JACK priključkom
- Opcionalno – komplet alata: kliješta za rezanje žice, kliješta za savijanje, škare, ljepljivu traku, ljepilo, pištolj za lijepljenje, kabelske vezice, obojenu žicu, dodatke… itd.

O umjetnici:
Djela Claire Williams poprimaju oblik tkanih antena, staklenih skulptura ispunjenih plazmom ili uređaja koji osjećaju nevidljivo. Podaci radio-teleskopa i radio-skenera materijaliziraju se u pletenim bodovima, zvučnim vibracijama ili kroz svjetlucavu plazmu. Ona oblikuje svoje elektroničke komponente kako bi učinila vidljivima elektromagnetska gibanja iz kozmosa, kroz našu magnetosferu, do radiovalova koji prolaze kroz naš zemaljski okoliš ili onih koji zrače iz naših tijela i psihičke aktivnosti. Trenutačno u duu “The Æthers” istražuje prakse prikupljanja i reaktiviranja nevidljivog pronađene u arhivima eksperimentalnih i okultnih znanosti 19. i 20. stoljeća.

Textile Electro workshop with Claire Williams
On Sunday, September 6 and Monday, September 7, from 3–8 PM, as part of the Explicit Music programme at MaMa, the Textile Electro workshop will take place with Belgian-French artist Claire Williams.
Throughout this workshop, we will be investigating techniques for listening to invisible worlds using the antennas and creating home-made circuits. These electronic antennas enable us to sonify the electromagnetic waves emanating from the auras of our surrounding electronic devices. We will look into textile and electronic crafting techniques to transform everyday objects into dowsing apparatus. We’ll end the workshop with a sound walk to sense the textures of these invisible worlds.
The workshop is intended for all those interested in sound art and the DIY (do-it-yourself) ethic, regardless of prior experience or their own practice. We kindly ask the participants to bring:
- A collection of 2nd hand objects: hats, shoes, umbrellas, circular objects, wheels, portable accessories, sticks, wands etc. and personalized elements you want to enhance your antenna with.
- Headphones with MINI JACK
- Optional – tool kit: wire cutters, bending pliers, scissors, scotch tape, glue, glue gun, cable ties, colored wire, accessories… etc.

About the artist:
The artworks of Claire Williams take the form of woven antennas, glass sculptures filled with plasma or devices that sense the invisible. Data of radio telescopes and radio scanners materialise themselves in knitted stitches, sound vibrations or through luminous plasma. She sculpts her electronic components to make visible the electromagnetic movements from the cosmos, through our magnetosphere, to radio waves that cross our terrestrial environment or the ones emanating from our bodies and psychic activity. She is currently exploring in a duo « The Æthers » which collects and reactivate practices of the invisibles found in the archives of experimental and occult sciences of the 19th and 20th century.
